WHAT IS PHISHING?
Phishing is when a hacker impersonates a friend, recognizable business, or governing authority to trick victims into giving up private information, such as a password or credit card number. Phishing often take the form of emails that urge readers to act quickly, such as an email disguised as though it’s from a manager demanding confidential records before an upcoming meeting.
It’s difficult for computer programs to recognize these scams and one of the best ways to prevent them is to train your employees to recognize them.
WHY DO YOU NEED PHISHING SIMULATIONS?
Phishing simulations are used to train your staff to spot the warning signs of a malicious email. Phishing simulations are based on typical phishing email templates that regularly turn up in our inboxes. According to research from the Ponemon Institute, phishing attacks cost an average large company nearly $4 million USD annually. Verizon reported in its 2019 Data Breach Report, that 32% of breaches involved phishing. To add, Verizon found that phishing was present in 78% of Cyber-Espionage incidents and the installation and use of backdoors and/or command-and-control malware was found in over 87% of incidents. A survey by analyst’s Aberdeen Group has shown that using a program of security awareness training in an organization can mitigate cybersecurity attacks by as much as 70%
